Interview preparation is not about memorising answers. It is about explaining your experience clearly and listening to what the employer needs.
Read the role description and note specific questions
Compare the responsibilities with your experience. Identify requirements you can demonstrate with examples and note specific questions. Read the organisation’s own published information to understand its work.
Prepare two examples covering context, actions and outcomes
Choose two real situations from your experience. Describe the context, what you personally did and the observable outcome. Avoid overstating your contribution and explain what you learned when something did not go as planned.
Prepare your own questions about the role and collaboration
Ask about early priorities, the team and how decisions are made. Afterwards, consider whether the role and conditions fit your goals. Write down the agreed next steps while the discussion is fresh.
Note open questions and agree responsibilities in your next conversation. Do not include confidential personnel documents in an initial enquiry.
