PRACTICAL GUIDE

A five-step recruitment process

  • Job profile: tasks, skills, conditions and what makes your company attractive.
  • Advert and channels: clear wording and publication on the right job boards and networks.
  • Shortlisting: screening applications against agreed criteria, with respectful communication.
  • Interviews: a structured interview guide, participation in the interviews and a joint assessment.
  • Offer and onboarding: references, contract and a plan for the first days.

What to check in Switzerland

Before advertising, check whether the position is subject to the job-vacancy reporting obligation (Stellenmeldepflicht) for occupations with high unemployment: if so, the vacancy must first be reported to the regional employment centre (RAV). Candidates from outside the EU/EFTA also need a work permit, which comes with stricter requirements. We help you review these points so that your timeline is realistic.

Applicants treated with respect

Good recruitment also looks after those who are not selected. We reply promptly, explain the next steps and handle applicant data confidentially. Your employer brand is built with every contact.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

How long does a recruitment process take?

It depends on the profile and the market. When defining the profile, we agree a realistic timeline with milestones for the advert, shortlisting and interviews.

Does Mija take part in interviews?

Yes, if you wish. We prepare a shared interview guide, take part in the interviews and help you compare applicants against agreed criteria.

What is the job-vacancy reporting obligation?

In occupations with a high unemployment rate, employers must report vacancies to the regional employment centre (RAV) before advertising them through other channels. The list of affected occupations is updated every year.
